HONEST ALIVE

The Landslide Ladies are an Italian rock band formed in Modena back in 2002 around frontman Lester Greenowski. They fused their sound through their influences of early glam rock, the starkness of punk, the melodies of power pop and the high energy of rock n roll. Over the past 10 years they have built up a reputation of being an exciting live band touring across Europe securing numerous support slots including New York Dolls, Backyard Babies, Dogs D’Amour, Sham 69, The Vibrators & Cockney Rejects to name but a few.

One of Greenowski’s biggest influences is original 1970s UK Punk Band The Boys and in particular their guitarist Honest John Plain, who he had seen live on numerous occasions over the years. In September 2011 The Boys were due to play two gigs in Rome & Milan with Honest John Plain looking to arrange a few low-key acoustic shows in preparation for his solo acoustic tour later in the year. Greenowski stepped forward to promote Plain’s acoustic show at the Sinners Club in Reggio Emilia on Tuesday 6 September 2011.

They quickly became firm friends and Greenowski introduced Plain to his fellow Landslide Ladies Vinnie (guitar) and David (drums). Plain was impressed with the Landslide Ladies and a two week Italian tour was planned for January 2012. After a few dates of the tour Plain began to realise that the Landslide Ladies and himself were forging a formidable live act and they agreed to go into the recording studio to record a “live” album of the tour.

On Wednesday 25 January 2012 Lester, Vinnie, David & Honest arrived at Music Inside Studios just outside Modena and in a little over six hours laid down twelve songs playing them “as live”. The following day Greenowski and Plain returned to the studio to mix the twelve live songs.

Plain returned to Italy to finish the mixing on Wednesday 14 March and filmed videos for “Monotony” & “Where Have All The Good Girls Gone” with the band in Modena on Saturday 17 & Sunday 18 March. Mastering took place at Music Inside Studios on Wednesday 21 March.

The album titled “Honest Alive” is set for release on Italian label Tornado Ride Records in May 2012 with a full European tour planned later in 2012 to promote it.
